BUT before they come out I am going to release Marvelous World: The Young Armada novella, which is a taste of the entire The Young Armada Series. Marvelous World: The Young Armada Synopsis:

The Young Armada are masterful artists of battle and destruction. They are a team of seven iLone CE, who have just been newly anointed FAVORITES by the Olivion.  Individually, they are unmatched on the battlefield but are still young and experiencing the growing pains of becoming a true team. Amidst their growing they have been ordered to find the locations of Louis Proof, Cyndi Victoria Chase, and Devon Alexander on Midlandia before the eNoli can destroy them. It just so happens that Midlandia has another task in mind for the team. They will find themselves on a wild adventure soaked in danger as they are led down a path to meet a mysterious and dangerously powerful FAVORITE named CARDAN.  The biggest secrets imaginable are to be found on Midlandia but CARDAN’S just may trump them all.  He is something Midlandia has never seen before and tied to the future of each and everyone of us.

OFs and the Stress!

Writing Olivion’s Favorites (OFs) was a stressful hell. It was not that I did not like the story– I actually love the story and characters. I guess it had to be because Louis Proof and Cyndi were in a traumatic situation for the majority of the novel. My stress came from the fact that I had to make everything up. Seriously, nothing on Midlandia had a reference to anything that I had personally experienced before nor was it based on my life. The Marvelous Effect was a total retelling of my actual life and was influenced by people that I grew up with and actually still know. It takes massive creative energy to make up an entire world, especially when it is one that is supposed to be the incomprehensible blueprint of everything that we know. I hear Olivion saying “Your world is a muted echo if Midlandia.” When you think about it that was a massive undertaking and those of you who have read both books need to tell me how I did.

If you compare both books you will notice that they are written in totally different styles. The Marvelous Effect is much more rhythmic while OFs is much more conversational and straight forward. That was because I did not listen to any music while I wrote OF and was in a totally different space and mindset. It took MASSIVE creative energy to finish OFs and that was compounded by the fact that I had a few things going on in my personal like that had my in a totally unique space.

What I now realize was that although I was not basing OFs on my life it seemed that what I was writing about was coming into fruition in my real life. For example, I had no real life basis for Perilynn and I soon realized that there was someone in my life that was doing the same thing that he did to Louis to me. SHM. Oh well. They always say that when you focus on certain things you bring them into your life. OFs was one hell of a ride and I am so happy that it is in the can. In fact, it has been out for months.

I will be returning to my original style for Marvelous World 3: Horribly Marvelous, which is also Horribly Marvelous: Book 1. I will get more into that later…

Well, it seems I have been getting a few inquiries about The Alorion Treaty. The breaking of The Alorion Treaty is why Louis Proof is a iLone CLE and Cyndi Victoria Chase is an eNoli CLE.

In Olivion’s Favorites you will meet Devon Alexander, who is a Favorite just like Louis and Cyndi. He says the following about the treaty:

“For each iLone and eNoli CE to leave
A child will endure a Midlandian quest for matching power to receive.
If the children die before they return,
They will go home robbed of all they have learned.”

That about sums it up.  As you know Timothy, Galonious, and Trife have escaped Midlandia for Earth and because of that three children will endure a massive adventure on Midlandia. Those children are Louis Proof, Cyndi Victoria Chase, and Devon Alexander. If you read the first book you know that Louis made it back from Midlandia with the power needed to face Galonious and what is coming. If you think Galonious is the threat you have much to learn. What is coming is the biggest threat imaginable and you will find out exactly what it is and all of the details of The Alorion Treaty (why it exists, who created it, who really broke it, ect) in Olivion’s Favorites.  I will say one thing more:  the name “Alorion” is very significant to both the name of the treaty and the plot of the story. Get ready…

Olivion’s Favorites

When I was in school I always hated to rewrite. I swear I think that is why I need so much editing. I would just try to get through my writing and say “Ta Da! I’m done! That’s what’s up!” It does not work like that anymore. Actually, it never worked like that eventhough I thought it did. My point is that a few months ago  I rewrote major portions of “Olivion’s Favorites.” I REALLY love the book now.  You will not know this but it has a whole new beginning, way more content, and much more action. I thought it had tons of action before but now it starts off with a big fight sequence with Louis in the middle of a major situation. I went back and developed major character in ways I failed to do before and even added new chapters and characters.

I guess I am just wasting blog space because you will only know the book as it is now. So why am I even writing this?  Oh yeah, its because I want all of you young and not so young people out there to know that rewriting is a good thing!  If you are lucky enough to get advice/constructive criticism on your writing don’t always think that person is hating (hence the word “constructive” in front of criticism) or they just don’t get you. I thought my first and second versions were great but I came to realize that I was frightfully wrong. I may have been headed for trouble but I was able to straighten myself out with the help of my editor Rebecca.

I had to learn that it is not always a good thing to offer your readers too much information too soon. It may be best to fold crucial information throughout the entire book.  I feel my decision to do so at the suggestion of my editor has made for a much stronger book with a bit of mystery woven within the pages. I hope you all enjoy it and remember that rewriting is a good thing.

They say your second book is the hardest to write. I would say that is true because it took me so long to write Olivion’s Favorites. It was not that it was hard as far as writing goes, it was because in my opinion it is such a massive book. I know that it has tons of characters and I believe that it has a rich plot, mystery, and far more action than my first book. I am happy that I took the series from East Orange, Newark and NYC to Midlandia. So get ready to see Louis Proof in the center of grand battles and marvelous locations.

As of right now the book is coming out January 2009. (My bad– it took me so long to write it that it had to get pushed back. I am going to try to make the demand so crazy for this book that it comes out sooner. Promote! Promote! Promote!)

First of all, Happy New Year! If anyone is wondering Olivion’s Favorites is on the way. This was a major undertaking because of the way it is formatted. If you are familiar with the Marvelous World Saga you know that it happens in the middle of Marvelous World book 1. As you can imagine that was an ambitious undertaking since it there has to be strict continuity with book 1. It also has to move the story ahead in great leaps and bounds even-though it takes in what is considered to be the past.

In book 1.5 I have created an entirely new world– Midlandia. There are grand locations and tons of CE characters. This took a great amount of time and consideration to write. I hope you think that I have done a great job when the book is released. Of course at that time I will have both this blog and a forum up so that you can give me your feed back.
